DAAICF Marks 15th Year of Scholarship Support, Celebrates 93 Beneficiaries
The Dr. Andrew A. Igwe Care Foundation (DAAICF) marked a significant milestone on September 22, 2023, as it hosted beneficiaries of its Scholarship Scheme during the Foundation’s 15th Annual Scholarship Grant Payment Programme held at Assemblies of God Church (AG1), Akabuka Town, ONELGA, Rivers State.
The event brought together scholarship beneficiaries, parents, guardians, community leaders, clergy, and members of the Foundation to celebrate fifteen years of educational support and investment in the future of young people.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Elder Alfred Enyioma, welcomed participants and encouraged the students to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to excellence as they pursue their academic aspirations.
Delivering the sermon at the event, Rev. Lawrence Cookey-Gam, Resident Pastor and Sectional Leader of Egi 1, Akabuka, urged beneficiaries to be worthy ambassadors of the Foundation. He encouraged them to think beyond themselves and begin preparing to positively impact others in the future.
He also thanked God for using Dr. Andrew Igwe as a source of relief and blessing to many students and families through the scholarship programme.
Among the dignitaries present was HRH Ambassador Bright Abali, Eze Ochi Oha of Ohiuga, who expressed admiration for the Foundation’s commitment to education and youth development.
He noted that if more privileged sons and daughters of Ogba Kingdom embraced similar initiatives, issues of youth restiveness and social challenges would be greatly reduced. He also commended the members of the Foundation for their dedication, professionalism, and selfless service.
The Foundation’s scholarship programme, which has expanded beyond Egi Kingdom to include parts of Igburu and Ekpeye, recorded a total of 93 beneficiaries during the 2023 cycle.
The beneficiaries comprised:
64 Secondary School Students
29 Tertiary Institution Students
A major highlight of the programme was the presentation of special awards and recognition to the overall best-performing students in both the secondary and tertiary categories. The awards were designed to encourage hard work, academic excellence, and healthy competition among beneficiaries.
Speaking during the event, the Director of Administration of the Foundation, Dr. Elechee Owhoeke, invited beneficiaries, parents, and guardians to participate in the Foundation’s forthcoming 15th Anniversary Celebration. He also reminded students to use the financial support provided strictly for educational purposes.
Parents, guardians, and beneficiaries expressed gratitude and satisfaction with the programme, praising God for raising a philanthropist like Dr. Andrew Igwe and for the opportunity to benefit from the scholarship initiative.
Many described the programme as a life-changing intervention that has enabled students to continue their education despite financial challenges.
As the Foundation celebrates fifteen years of supporting education and empowering future leaders, it remains committed to investing in human capital development and creating opportunities for young people to achieve their dreams.
Food for Thought:
“Nobody ever counted loss in the business of giving back to society. Every good and perfect gift comes from God.”
We return all glory to God Almighty.
